Keith 2nd Birthday

I am very sorry for not being able to update my blog as often as I like now. Life is indeed very hard especially when you have to work things out from scratch without much help and support. Luckily I found it lately with much understanding.

I know that I have been absent from my blog for over 2 months now. I am taking this opportunity to start writing again whenever I can find the time to. My sincerest apologies to all that have hopped over to my blog only to be disappointed with the same old posting.
It was Keith's birthday last week and I manage to spend almost the whole day with him. (Well, I am glad that I can almost see him almost on a weekly basis and he is still as attached to me)

That day was not really an eventful day but it has been a very tiring day for all of us, including the Birthday boy. Elaine wanted to get cupcakes from Cupcake Chic so they bought two to try and sadly they were not to our liking, with Keith being the only one wanting to eat one cupcake and smashing the sweeter one. Guess the cupcakes were not to our liking.

This is how Keith eats his cup cake

After the cupcake we decided to go into the Curve because it was raining heavily and I have parked my car in the basement parking of Ikea. While walking towards the entrance, Keith saw the candy shop and immediately he helped himself to pick the candy :P We can really see that he indeed enjoyed himself with his lollipop candy although he cannot finish it.

He even sat himself on a bench to enjoy his lollipop.

We allowed him to have 2 rides on the mini rides then we headed to Ikea and had a little walk. Keith would as usual play with all the toys there and also the slide

Right after that, we decided to go to Jelly Q to get a jelly instead. Everybody decided to go for the steamboat opposite of the confectionery shop because we were all so hungry.

So we also let Keith have his jelly cake there too

What gave me the scare is him touching the top of the candles right after he blew it

I bought him a balloon, which he had used to repeatedly hit my sister on the head with, as well along with the gifts he got from us. I gave him a Swarovski Crystal Pig (for keeping) with a fake W910 display phone, my mom gave him a small golden piggie pendant and he also received a Jumbo-size Barney from a very good friend of my sister and I.

That did not conclude the day, we went to the Food Foundry to get a Mille Crepe Cake for all the adults and headed to a small restaurant in Taman Desa for our dinner before sending Elaine and Keith home. As usual Keith would whine when he sees me leave but I am glad in a way that Elaine and I are trying to work things out in our own ways.

Runaway Maids

Today is a horrible day to do this post..... Most who have my MSN would know that I am a late night bird. Last night, as usual I went to sleep at 5am But I only get to sleep until 8am. The reason for the short sleep was because my mom came rushing into our room telling us that the maids has gone missing (my sister's and mine)

Grandma has made the discovery when she was going to the bathroom. After looking thru our personal stuffs we found that we are missing quite a sum of money from Elaine's pouch (our own money and "loose change" money we keep for the cash register) We also found a half bottle of milk on the table in the hall along with our keys and their passports, which was taken from our pouch as well.

What really made us totally unprepared for this is because my sister's maid is due for home in October and mine is in December this year. my sister's maid even told my sister that she wanted to continue her employment and she requested that we send her back. We have promised her that we will allow her to go back for a month in January. We were really shock that they have decided to runaway and was even daring to steal money right under our nose. Elaine, Keith and I is sleeping in the room where the theft took place.

From my guess, she has used the opportunity to steal it when she came into our room at about 6 - 7am to feed Keith his morning milk. She only fed hin halfway thru because she did not want to force the whole bottle to Keith because he would normally starts to whine if he is given more than half a bottle. Since Elaine is a light sleeper, she is normally woken up by Keith's whining so I guess she took the caution ot that.

Despite a check with the guard house, they were unable to provide much information because ours is practically manned by foreigners too, my guess is probably Nepalese.

In my opinion, the reason for their daring act is probably due to the fact that they knew where I put their passports. Recently the government has required us, employers, to bring along their passport whenever we bring them out. It has really been an inconvenience, it would be better if we can have the immigration dept issued ID cards and have their passports kept in a safe place or even with the agency. According to the maid agency, the immigration dept has discontinued sending it out these recent years.

I have never liked the idea of having strangers, like maid, in my house because I have always felt uncomfortable with them and also thinks that there is a loss of privacy. FYI, I never spoke to my maids, they get their instructions from Elaine all the time. I am considered lucky because Keith is never attached to our maid and he never really quite liked her. Anyway the reason for us to get the maids is because we needed them to help Grandma to care for Keith (and Nicole, formerly) as well as Grandma herself too because she has been having problem with her legs and movement is rather limited lately and she had fainted once on us because of low blood pressure. Grandma herself is on High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol and Controlled Diabetes medication.

Sadly we don't have a big family so we have to resort to employing maids to help us out on out daily chores as well as taking care of our family so that we can spare more time on our business. The most depressing part of the day is losing the maid has sparked a few arguments in the family and I am being victimized all the time.

My thank for all the friends whom have given their advises, for all the concerns we have been given, for sharing with us their experiences and contacts for maid agencies, since most are closed on Sundays.

Bad Day!

Yesterday was a very painful day for me and Keith. There was two major things that had happened and also would really have a major impact on my life.

I do not want to write this first part down but I really needed to remind myself of this incident to I will do it but I would not want to go into too much details, rather just vaguely mention it because I do not want to hurt anyone's feeling. I'll just mentioned the person as "A". I have always tried my very best in doing things to please "A" that I can, yet "A" is never seems happy. Everytime when things like this happened, the whole situation would looks as though I am always given the right to choose but I make the choice that is not in "A" favour then I am bound to get it badly..... mentally and physically too.... talk about abuse!!! (Doesn't this makes you think our of beloved country?)

I was just trying to teach "A" a lesson because I never liked being ordered and being bossed around (nobody does!) When I made my choice not offer my help to "A" because I wanted "A" to know what it takes for me to do the job. "A" tried to get the job done and was really unhappy about it. In the end when I tried to let "A" know that I faces the same helplessness when I am ordered to do the same job, I got battered!!!! and battered badly too!!!! Sigh! So much for a freedom of choice!!!!

The second major thing really breaks our hearts...... Last night I came to the restaurant on my sister's car. Keith was in the backseat with me, while Grandma sits in front. After my sister parked her car, I let Keith off the car and passed him to Grandma. I only let him go after Grandma have a good grip on him. Then I turned back to the car to take Keith's bag. I turned around and I saw Keith struggling to free himself of her grip. I guess he suddenly caught himself caught off balance when he manage to shrug off Grandma's hand and almost fell down onto the tar road face down.

Luckily Grandma caught him in time and he looked at me and cried out loud. So I picked him up and he kept hitting his chest too (the way of him telling me that he is scared) As we enter the restaurant, Elaine looked shocked and kept asking what is that on his face. To our horror, we saw this

A 3 almost 4 inches red wound running from his eyebrow to his hair line diagonally across his forehead.

It is really sad indeed. I guess now our boy would now look like one of those characters off the Chinese fighting Man Hua 漫画 comic

Elaine to stop breast feeding

Yesterday Elaine had pumped her last EBM for Keith consumption and so far she had been doing the EBM for 1 year, 2 months, 1 week and 1 day (or a total of 435 days) I took a snapshot of the lilypie marker so that I can keep a record of it for future reference since I will be taking it down from my header.

The reason for her to stop is because she needed to go on some medication and in taking that it is not recommended for her to BF. For a short while she will still be expressing to keep the supply coming but she will have to throw those EBM away. She agreed with me to do so after I explained to her that in doing so she could ensure that if Keith ever reacts to the milk powder, there is still her EBM to fall back to, instead of medication or adapting to another brand/type problem because all she needed to do is stop her medication for a day and her EBM is as good as before.

I know that most of you would think that I have been all talk about BM since I am a male and would never really know what all the great mums have to go through to give their little ones the best in life. Admittingly yes, I could never ever know how it is to BF but all I can say is it is really a very BIG sacrifice indeed, especially Elaine because Keith would not latch on. No matter how much I have done for her or him it is really nothing compared to her sacrifice. I am ever grateful because Elaine had been doing it for all the while without any complain nor even she mumble that it wasn't fair. She was all about giving the best for our little one.

The other reason why I was really thankful is because both Elaine and I was never BF when we were infants.

  • In Elaine's case she was like Keith and would not want to latch on and there was no equipments and tools like present for EBM. Her parents have to give her S26 which she would only take minimal amount. I suspect her gastric could have started then Later on her parents found out that PoPo in fact have abundant of BM supply that she can have Aunt May, Uncle Jason and 2 more cousins latch on one after another.
  • Whereas in my case, according to my kai-ma (godmother, whom also happen to be my eldest maternal aunt) I have had eczema because of allergy I am not sure if it was CMPA probably I have been taking milk powder since birth. By the way, my mother is a firm believer that BM is for the "Dumb and Dumber". In fact most of my relatives from my mother's side do not BF. She had even tried to discourage Elaine from giving Keith BM while my kai-ma has also told me that Keith is too underweight and suggested that we should switch to powder milk for him to gain more weight (to be more chubby and cuddly wor)

A day in Penang

On Tuesday morning we went back to Penang for quite a few reasons for the single trip. We went there in my sister's car and on the trip was Elaine, Grandma, my sister, Keith and I. Our main purpose there is to:

  1. Take grandma for her checkup in GH.
  2. To spend a day with Nicole.
  3. To pay our respect to my stepfather.
We started the journey at 3 am with me driving all the way to Penang and we reached Juru at about 6.30 am. Problem is we have to spend almost 2 hours there waiting for Nicole despite my sister calling her dad at 5.30 am (he works the night shift)
We drove to Penang via the Penang Bridge which is really jammed up for no particular reason. I really wonder why the cars keep jamming up on a straight road!!! Upon reaching the GH, it took less than 2 hours for Grandma to complete her checkup, since she has my cousin, Melinda and her husband, Johnny to take her monthly medicine for her. my sister took over the driver's place from GH. Initilally Nicole was rather quiet, probably because she just woke up after a while she was her talkative self as soon as we were in GH.

Right after that we went for some Dim Sum for our breakfast, which we have to skip this morning because Grandma was supposed to fast as she has to have her blood sample taken on this visit of hers. Next stop was at my uncle's place in Penang Street, the place where I grew up. My aunt was very hospitable and she even gave us very tasty porridge for Keith and Nicole. Elaine and Grandma learnt from her how to make the porridge as well as how to keep it warm all day instead of having to reheat it up (avoiding the creation of wind (foong) in the process) She also gave us 2 laptop backpacks (just what I intended to buy) and a few Dry-Comfort T-Shirts.

After that we went for some sight-seeing and we couldn't really agree on where to go to for our next meal. In the end I decided to stop by the tea house in Pulau Tikus, with their very quiet ambiance, I took the opportunity to take some pictures.

Nicole while she was enjoying the "Tea Egg"

I guess she is beginning to feed herself now and she still likes soup a lot because she almost finished a whole bowl of it by herself.

I manage to have my hands on the camera because......

But someone was being a handful

Because she was starting to explore the place

Then we bought some Boon's aniseed water ("pak yeok sui") which was on offer RM17 for 2 bottles at the Boon's Pharmacy in Pulau Tikus. After buying some prayers stuffs we drove to the Berapit Cemetery to visit my stepfather. I guess we were really unprepared to carry out our Ching Ming this year because we have missed out on a lot of things due to lack of communication on what is needed. Lesson learnt here and I really need to prepare all those things personally. Anyway I took back the driver's seat from the cemetery onwards. Anyway to those needing to know, Nicole and Keith had stayed in the car with Grandma when we offered our prayers.

After that we drove around town a bit and drove to Melinda's office to drop my mum's medical card for her. We could not decide where to go to for our dinner and in the end we went to Alma for some Thai food.

Nicole insisted in sitting next to Keith and kept trying to pull his baby chair towards her to be keep the space between them to the minimum.

Keith was very happy to see his cousin, Nicole

Nicole seems to have turned very cool and posing with her peace sign too

After that we went to the McDonald's in AutoCity for my sister to meet up with Nicole's dad and we started our journey back to KL from there. We didn't say goodbye to Nicole but we promised to see her another time which we hope would be very soon.

I took a short nap while my sister drove to Sg Perak R&R for petrol, which I took the driver seat from there on. We were all being very quiet during the trip because I knew that we were all being very sadden having to leave Nicole in there. We were rather shocked because Nicole informed us of her misfortunate that her aunt ,whom babysits her, had hit her on the butt before for a few times and also her dad hardly takes her out. Despite the fact that they are officially divorced, we were all very grateful that he had earlier tended to my stepdad's grave a few days before our visit.

P/S- On purpose I have to leave the adults out of the pictures because we looked exactly like pandas that day!!!!

Grandma fainted during lunch

Yesterday we have had a shock of our lives in the restaurant.
The minor part:
We went to work as usual with our restaurant starting business at 12noon. Grandma took a ride with my sister because it was her day off and I have instructed my sis to go to the paed to buy Keith more medicine because he has wasted quite a lot when he vomited and we had to give him the same portion again.

The major part:
As we were sitting down to have some lunch, grandma fainted halfway thru eating..... We were caught rather out of hand. My sis went over to the clinic next door, I called 999, Popo went to buy some medicated oil. Grandma blacked out for about 5 minutes and gained consciousness when Elaine applied the medicated oil. I called 999 again to cancel the ambulance and took my mother to HUM myself.

I was rather impressed with the facility they have in HUM. By the time grandma check out after a 4 hour wait, they have already have taken blood sample and have it tested, X-Ray taken, given 1/2 bag of saline thru I.V. and me only RM35 poorer but funny thing is Grandma was discharged without any medication. Anyway yesterday was a pretty busy and messy day in the Emergency Ward, with the Acute Ward practically full.

Grandma was having a very low blood pressure and after the blood test the doctor concluded that she is suffering from it because she has the BP problem due to her coughing with phlegms and recent vomiting too. I still wonder how come the doctor never prescribed her any medication?

The good part is we were very lucky that she fainted while sitting down, not in action or standing and didn't suffer any injury. I was really grateful for all the help we have got when grandma fainted because Irene and I would done more wrong than right.

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday and I guess I just got a year older already :P Remember how anxious we all were to grow up when we were young and now I guess we are all trying to slow the aging process :D

This year was really special because of many reasons:

  • Manwai's birthday fall on the same day as Keith's lunar birthday :D (so officially Keith is 2 years old, according to the Chinese Lunar la)
  • Jasmine came over to our restaurant with her handsome son, Vyktore and her friend Cheryl and it was really kind of her to share her birthday cake with me. (Our birthdays was the reason we started chatting with each other via ICQ and ours are a day apart.)
  • I got my very first birthday cake from my mum and sister.

Surprisingly when we were all singing "Happy Birthday" song and chowing down the food prepared/ordered, someone was so tired that he slept thru the whole thing but he slept with his eyes partially opened.

Next on my list is preparing for Keith's birthday. We will just a small celebration among family members because we can only do it on Tuesday (our day off). I can only wish that I can invite a few friends and kids too to make it merrier but I guess we will do that a few more years from now when I can take time off on weekends :D

My sister is moving down soon

My sister came to KL yesterday night because she needed to attend a job interview this morning. Grandma will be following her back to Penang on Sunday so that they can pack up their stuffs and transport it to KL. My sister will be moving down to KL and stay with us. We are planning of partitioning a room for my sister and I'm thinking of doing it by myself, if only I could find the time because I would not want to let some contractor do it and make a big mess.

The paed also just called me up to pick up Nicole's insurance claim form. Most of you must wonder why am I doing this when it is supposed to be done by her father. Well, I'm doing the claim so that I can be able to get hold of the cheque when it is ready, only then I can negotiate to get back the money I have paid for Nicole admission. (Sigh! This is really a big headache for me)

According to my sister's friend, whom happened to stumble upon Nicole in the wet market, Nicole is doing fine and she is being very well taken care of. We just hope that her father would continue on being a good dad, no matter what happens.

As for Keith, he will have to go for a few more days without grandma again. He is getting whinier as ever because he would forever wanted to go out. He is still unable to crawl but he is definitely getting cheekier by the day.

He did this all by himself, putting the spoon into his mouth and biting on it while letting go of his hands.

Grandma's back

I guessed I have rant a little too much so I might just wanna skip ranting on the other S-O ( @$$h013 ) so I'll just continue posting with what I created this blog for and forget about the KNNCCB person. Sorry for the foul words, least I want to vent it out and it does feel good. Furthermore since you all know that I am not a cursing person, you would have figured out how badly I have been offended by the S-O

Grandma came back to KL on Thursday evening and Keith was indeed very delighted to see her. He started jumping, while I was carrying him, as soon as he saw grandma who just got off from my uncle's car. (She got a free ride back from her brother)

When I told her that she looked rather tired, her repy was because of the travel, but I am thinking otherwise, she was very disappointed because she was not given the opportunity to see Nicole and she really missed her. From what I heard, Nicole is adapting very well at her father's place because all her cousins are having their school holidays now.

Look at Keith so busy fiddling with grandma's handphone and she goes around telling everyone that I am the one spoiling the boy.

My apologies because this picture is taken with my handphone and the image is a little blurred.

Keith was having some trouble adapting to the quietness back at home since he is so used to having so much attention from many people and carrying him around.

Grandma's back to Penang

Yesterday Grandma has safely arrived in Penang while Elaine and I will have to take care of Keith while we work for this 2 weeks. Hopefully he is much more behaving and less whiny.

Just before Grandma leave for Penang we have got news that Nicole's father hs changed his mind and not allow Grandma to take Nicole for the banquet. The reason is his SIL, whom is now babysitting Nicole doesn't want Nicole to see anyone of us because she says that it would make it easier for her to adapt to her new enviroment. Although Grandma wasn't too happy that she is not able to see Nicole but she understands of their need of doing so. We just hope that he might change his mind later on.

I guess Keith is not too interested in crawling because he is just as mobile on the walker. This is the picture of Keith with all look but no action!!!

He does move a little but if the item is too far he would just roll over

Wedding & Baby season??!

I am really sorry that I have not been able to update my blog much because there is many things that I have to solve and things that needed my extra attention.

Recently we all know that Grandma wasn't happy after Nicole went to Penang but luckily she was willing to follow us to go to work and hang around for a few hours until I am able to take them back when business is a little slower after lunch hours. Keith have been much more sticky with Elaine and I too and he would surely want us to carry him whenever he sees us. He is also beginning to babble "mama" and "papa" occasionally too.

Grandma will be going back to Penang on this Sunday to attend my cousin, Kah Bee's wedding and Nicole's father have allowed Grandma to bring Nicole along too. Elaine and I will have to stay back because we still have to run the business and Elaine's brother is having his wedding a day after Kah Bee's!!! I guess everyone wanted to tie the knot before the "Year of the Pig" ends and some wanted to have a piggy baby. In fact now Keith have got 2 second cousin brothers born in the same year now!!! I dunno about you but most of the babies born this year that I have known were mostly baby boys.

This is the picture of Keith, whom was rather mesmerized by the light ball above him and seems to enjoy munching on his finger while the other hand was holding onto his leg. This picture was taken when he was less whiny in the restaurant.

My hospitalised niece, Nicole

Today is the second day Nicole is in the hospital. The paed didn't reveal much, he had just told gramdma that it is not dengue and there is nothing too serious about the sickness. The paed told grandma that Nicole's fever is probably due to her swollen eye coupled with her sore throat.

It really sadden me to see the doctor taking Nicole's blood for testing and her struggle really made things much more worse for all :( The A&E doctor couldn't take anything off her although there was 5 of us holding her down, three nurses, grandma and me. Later she decided to call in the paed because she wasn't able to find Nicole's vein.

So we checked Nicole in, to our surprise we were told that TDMC do not take the "yellow" ING Medical Card!!!! Although I am not a rich person but I am really lucky to have credit card with limits higher than what Nicole's ING card is covering her for. (The reason why I got Keith the same thing without the card because I am getting a higher limit for the same price as a lower limit with the card) Anyway I feel that TDMC's room is rather reasonable at RM100 per night for a cot and a bed on a twin sharing basis.

After a check with the paed, we were told to bring Nicole to another room for him to take some blood samples. This time it only took 2 nurse and me to hold Nicole down but the whole process took more than 1/2 hour because for some reason the thing that is used to pump the blood was leaking!!!!! Gosh!! I felt so guilty because Nicole kept wailing for me to carry her and all I can do is console her and assure her that I will take her out as soon as the whole thing is over. (So I bought her some Ribena pastilles and Smarties from the convenience store at the lobby)

In the evening when I went back with more clothing and necessities for Nicole and Grandma, Nicole was soundly sleeping and she even slept through Keith's yelling when he was excited to see his grandma.

Despite having fever, a swollen eye and a stopped I.V. (intravenous) Nicole can still be so active and still run around and enjoying herself in the "almost empty" playroom!!!
In this Box is supposed to be a pic. Refresh or click here for a bigger pic

And of course Keith wanted to try the toy as well.
In this Box is supposed to be a pic. Refresh or click here for a bigger pic

The paed wanted to keep the stopped I.V. so that it would be easier in case they needed to start the drip if Nicole's fever won't come down. Grandma is the one staying in the hospital with Nicole and Nicole's parents is coming to KL today and should be arriving by tonight.

Two more down!!!!

While Keith is recovering, Nicole and Grandma was down with the similar sickness yesterday. Grandma was very reluctant to see the doctor so I have no choice other than giving her a bottle of Vitamin C. The only ones whom have not have it is Grandma's maid and myself, but I am already starting to get sore throat (only when I get up in the morning)

I wonder how much longer will this be passing around in the family! My MIL was really scared of getting it because she immediately decline to help me to drive Grandma and Nicole to see the doctor. But anyway my last call to Grandma, she sounded much better already, but I wonder if she did take any of the Vitamins I have given her.

Here is a picture of them, when Keith was just starting to fall really sick

The Walker Pusher

Whenever we put Keith on the walker, Nicole would always try to stand behind him pushing and pulling him. I guess she learned that from us because we did push Keith away from us so that he would learn to walk towards us. As we called out for Keith to walk towards us, Nicole will run behind him and push him towards us. Now how are we gonna teach Keith when we have a busybody driver leh? Luckily Keith is able to walk forward now :)

Lately Keith have been without Grandma and Nicole because they are back in Penang for grandma's checkup. They have gone back with my sis on Sunday and would be back probably by this Friday. We are informed that Grandma is not doing so well in her physical tests, probably it is caused by the stress Nicole is giving her, Nicole kept waking up crying for no reason!

Keith's Second Tooth

According to Grandma, Keith's second tooth can be felt and the first tooth have already gained millimeters in height.

Keith is still as playful as usual but what makes grandma and Elaine jealous is Keith seems to be more talkative and happier too when I am carrying him :)

The bad news is Nicole and the maid would be going back to BM very soon. Yes, her parents are arranging their divorce and probably Nicole would be going to her father, unless my sister wanted custody. We know that my sis would have to go thru a lot if she is to gain custody of Nicole. The main headache is what if her father doesn't bank in his money for Nicole? Sigh! My sis, Elaine and I are still trying to work out something which we can afford with our limited time and money. But it is Grandma that we are more concerned about because she is really attached to Nicole, in fact I think grandma have put in all her care and love. We will hope that everything will work out fine

Keith's First Hair Cut

Actually it is more like his first bald head than a hair cut :P

He really gave us a big surprise because he was rather surpirisingly very easy to handle during his haircut and his jab. Not that he was totally easy because he did cry quite a bit yesterday too (a little more than usual), like when we put him on the weighing machine (he was unhappy because he was still sleeping then), for his diaper change because he pooped twice and for his milk. Elaine was rather pleased because she managed to direct feed Keith today and this is also the first time we didn't use powder during our outing. (Btw, we were rather puzzled because the powder somehow got black stuffs in it and we wondered how it got contaminated)

Keith's hair cut cost RM10 at the Indian Barber shop in OUG (next to Ah Loy) The guy really knew what he was doing and he was being very careful. And we were all very happy with his service because Keith was 100% unhurt in the process.

Initially I was the one whom was supposed to hold him down but I knew that he was more attached to his grandma so I requested her to carry him instead. During this time Elaine was in the car waiting because she told us that she couldn't bear to see her baby kena torture wor. Anyway she got scared because her BIL told her that the barbers uses the knife (that they use to shave men's beard/moustache) to shave baby's head. I dunno why she believe his story while I tried to convince her that they use the electrical shavers but I think she have no confidence in me gwa! Back to Keith, Nicole and the maid sat on the chair next to Grandma and Keith. Nicole did looked a little scared. I stood by the side prepared to distract him in case of any struggle/cry. Since he was ok so I took some pics lo.

As for his Paed visit, the doctor comment on Keith's Cradle Cap, his rashes on his hands and legs (possibly due to allergy so doctor suggested to go 100% on BM). Keith
gave the doctor and the nurse a long stare and he did cry out for 2-3 second when the doctor gave him his jab but he was quiet almost immediately.
