New Avent Pump

I should say that I am really happy and proud that Elaine have been able to provide Keith fully with EBM for a whole year. Elaine's supply is only able to provide just the right amount without any extra at all, with Keith on 2 meals of solid. Throughout the year Elaine have been using her sister's AVENT ISIS Pump and we have went to the service center to buy us the spare parts. According to Elaine those parts are beginning to fail as well and we have been pondering whether to get a new one or to buy more spare parts.

A few months back when Jusco was offering a 20% discount on the Avent product, we decided to buy the The AVENT ISIS iQ UNO™ because EBM is really taking its toll on Elaine. Things definitely would be better if Keith would latch on but he is reluctant and furthermore Elaine fears of his 8 front teeth, we decided to make the purchase. It was a very big investment for us because it is priced RM695.00 before discount, also the reason why we waited for the discount!
Upon opening the set, we realise that inside the box is the regular AVENT ISIS Pump with an added electrical top which would pull the diaphragm. (included is a wall power adapter as well as a battery power pack for mobility) Anyway we would be going to their customer service too because the power kept turning off by itself when we are using the wall power adapter.

This Tuesday is also the day Elaine went for her annual checkup with her gynae. During the checkup, we were given 5 boxes of Promil Gold and we have yet to consult with the paed whether Keith is able to take it because we fear that he would develop anymore eczema. The paed has yet to acertain whether Keith has CMPA but she recommends Elaine to keep giving him EBM.

Keith is 1 year old

Well, like what slavemom commented on my previous post, Keith has finally entered toddlerhood. Despite her forgetfulness and clumsiness, Elaine has been a very wonderful mom because she have been sacrificing a lot of her time in expressing BM for Keith for a whole year already now.

Although we have celebrated Keith's birthday earlier, Grandma insisted in buying a small cake for him for the actual day itself. Sad thing is he vomited when my sis fed him a very small portion. (The M&M Shirt is from Elaine's uncle)

Statistics
Height - ??
Weight - ??
(I am yet to take him for his MMR jab because it is due after)

Diet
His milk intake is still the same at 5.5-6oz of BM in addition to his 2 meals of solid.
He wanted to take whatever we are eating. I have observed that he likes to eat spaghetti and rice, especially fried rice. He has developed a liking to drink from our cups too.

Sleep
He is able to sleep through the night in his cot. On occasional nights he would be crying in the wee hours in the morning and wanted to be carried by me or watch his favourite Musical CD, I am guessing that it is his phlegm that is causing him to be uneasy.

Teeth
He still has 8 teeth but Grandma and Elaine told me that they are observing some white spots on his gums. We'll have to keep an eye out soon because I guess it will be 4 canine teeth cuspid this time and possibly some molars too.

Verbal
He would be calling out "papa" "apa" but he is still unable to address me yet because he would be calling out of the blue. He seems to like to call out "papa" more than "mama". Sometimes he would call Elaine as "papa" and me as "mama". He is able to call out "umm!" for food when he wanted some of our food.

Mobility
He is able to stand on his own much longer now but he will be frantically be searching for our hands when he is unstable. Despite the fact that he is able to walk a few steps on his own, I guess he is still scared from his previous fall.

Others

  • He still likes to hold onto my ear lobes with his left hand and sometimes poke the end with his right index finger and it really hurts because he kept doing it repeatedly.
  • For now I am on top of his preference list of person to carry him, then comes Mummy, PoPo, Jiu-Jiu (Uncle Jason). But the maid would gain the top preference when he is hungry and wanted his milk.
  • Developed a liking to shout, when he is unhappy, not given what he wanted, not carried or when I switch on the blender!
  • He likes to point at things with his index fingers, especially at pretty girls. Yes, he likes to look and stare at pretty girls. When he is in the mood to let a stranger carry him, he would always choose the prettier one!!!!!
  • He is also able to respond very well to "tim choong-choong", "clap-clap hand", "friend kiss" and "habis"

    Hehe!!!

Keith's Birthday Celebration

Today Keith is officially one year old but we have celebrated Keith's 1st Birthday earlier on Tuesday, since that day is our day off. We went to Hau Kee Restaurant in Taman Cheras. We decided to go for a small gathering of family members because we didn't have much time to do any preparation, even deciding which restaurant to go to took Elaine until Monday to decide.

For Keith's Birthday cake, We ordered 2 sets of cakes from

One of it was a Tiramisu cake (for the adults) and a set of Toddler Train only (for the kids)

Keith was already wielding the plastic knife as we were getting the stuffs ready.

When we lighted up the candle and sing him his Birthday Song, he seems to be mesmerized by the lighted candle and totally forgot the clap his hands. I have to hold onto his hand because he tried to grab the cake.

His PoPo was so anxious that right after the song she handed Elaine the knife and told her to cut it out, even before we blow the candle. I guess everyone was very excited.

As for the kids' cake, the adults seems to be the one whom were excited about it, as seen in the picture below, look at Auntie May, Yong Jin and PoPo

At the end of the day, I realized that everyone felt uneasy because we all know someone was missing. If only Nicole was around she would surely be very happy to have her own carriage cake of the toddler train.

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday and I guess I just got a year older already :P Remember how anxious we all were to grow up when we were young and now I guess we are all trying to slow the aging process :D

This year was really special because of many reasons:

  • Manwai's birthday fall on the same day as Keith's lunar birthday :D (so officially Keith is 2 years old, according to the Chinese Lunar la)
  • Jasmine came over to our restaurant with her handsome son, Vyktore and her friend Cheryl and it was really kind of her to share her birthday cake with me. (Our birthdays was the reason we started chatting with each other via ICQ and ours are a day apart.)
  • I got my very first birthday cake from my mum and sister.

Surprisingly when we were all singing "Happy Birthday" song and chowing down the food prepared/ordered, someone was so tired that he slept thru the whole thing but he slept with his eyes partially opened.

Next on my list is preparing for Keith's birthday. We will just a small celebration among family members because we can only do it on Tuesday (our day off). I can only wish that I can invite a few friends and kids too to make it merrier but I guess we will do that a few more years from now when I can take time off on weekends :D

Happy Chinese New Year

I know this greeting comes a bit too late since we are already into the 6th day of the lunar calender.

This CNY we didn't travel to anywhere because we all know that it will be jammed all the way to the North. Since my sis and Grandma is here in KL so we decided to stay back and have a quiet CNY because we really need to take the break instead of going around with a tight schedule, especially when you go back to your own hometown.

Our only problem is a whiny kid whom wanted to go out all the time. Keith kept whining and crying for us to go out for the past few days. So much for a relaxing CNY holidays because of his demands we ended driving around KL with so many others still in town. I guess CNY in KL is no longer as dull as it used to be in the past. Probably more and more people are settling down for real.

One day those days we ended up in Sunway Pyramid because we have not visited there since they have extended the place and we did take a few pictures but I am only gonna post one because they are all repeated pics :P

We have only got Keith to go the "Gong Xi, Gong Xi" gesture 2 days before CNY.

I am really sorry because lately I don't feel like taking pics due to work pressure.

Keith's Haircut

Chinese New Year is just around the corner.... and we got really busy preparing stuffs for the big day. We have been trying to find time to take Keith for a haircut but have failed to do so for the past two to three weeks. Yesterday I took Grandma to see the doctor because she has not been feeling too well for the past 3 days and I brought Keith along. As we were walking aback to the restaurant, I happen to stumble upon an Indian barber shop so I told Grandma that we should have it done immediately without any further delay.

When it was our turn for Keith's haircut, he was very curious as to what were we doing. He even played peek-a-boo with the barber because he wanted to know what the man is doing behind him. Then after a while he started to become cranky and started to cry as the man is making his finishing shave on the edges of his hair slope.

As soon as we got back, Grandma fed him his porridge and he was very hungry indeed because we have been in the clinic for over 2 hours already.

This is how happy he was after grandma gave him a spoonful of his porridge

TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE???

I have a shock again today to see so many "TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE"s on my blog.

The first time all my pictures were missing because PicsPay.com went offline for some unknown reasons, now it is AllYouCanUpload.com??? Well, at least I know that they went offline for maintenance. I might consider of moving all my pictures to picasa eventually.

Sleeping Style

For the past 2 months Keith have been following us to work and since Grandma have come back from Penang, she had helped us by caring for Keith there. We have decided to temporarily let Grandma and Keith to tag along to our workplace so that Keith would get use to Grandma. Keith has gotten more attached to Elaine and I since Grandma has gone back to Penang.

I felt sorry that I was not able to provide Keith with a much better environment. This is only a temporary measure because in time Grandma and Keith would go back home in the evening with my sis. By the way, my sis is now working in KL as a CSE in a company close by and we were all rather surprised because the company pays well too (I knew because Elaine scouted the job for her)

Initially Keith have had a very hard time trying to sleep in our workplace but for the past month he have adjusted to the noises. Lately he is able to sleep even longer hours compared to what he used to at home. Luckily our stroller is much more bigger size, if not I doubt he would be able to do his ususal twist and turn while he sleeps.

This is one of the funny position I found him in.

For those whom are afraid that he would suffocate, Grandma is keeping a close eye on him all the time.

Keith is 11 months old

I have not been updating my blog as often recently and I actually scratched my head for a post then a look at the calender I realised that today Keith is 11 months old. Wow, now I have to really look into ordering his birthday cake, which I have been doing for the last few months but was not able to decide upon which one.

This was taken when I took him out to a hypermarket nearby our restaurant.

(We missed his last appointment and we have decided to take him to see the doctor when he is due for his next jab.

Diet
His milk intake is still the same at 5.5-6oz of BM in addition to his 2 meals of solid. Mummy's worry is her expressed milk is getting less by the day.
Right now he is practically eating everything except eggs, banana and spicy stuffs (I guess this will be the last month that we will observe what Grandma advised us not to give him until he is one) His favourite is whatever we are having for our meal.

Sleep
He has been sleeping with us for almost a months now. The good news is he is able to sleep through the night in his cot. Yesterday was so funny that I found him sleeping reversed from when we initially have him sleep, with his legs on his pillow sleeping. Once in a while he will whine for attention and take a peek to see if anyone is attending to him or whenever we move him to a better sleeping position.

Teeth
He still has 8 teeth and would gnaw and lick on almost everything you give him, especially human fingers!!! I have been guessing that he is probably teething again but I fail to detect any newer teeth.

Verbal
He still "baby babble sing" as he is about to fall asleep. He is able to say "mama" "ama" "papa" "apa" more clearly but to date he is still unable to address me or Elaine. As for food he is able to say "umm!"

Mobility
He is crawling unsteadily, probably we do not give him enough time on his own to crawl. He is able to stand on his own for minutes now and he even pushes our hands away to let him stand on his own. He is even able to clap his hands while standing up. Today Aunt May tried to let him walk on his own, when Grandma informed us all that he is able to walk with a little assistance. They tried to let him walk with both hands behind him to catch him just as he is unsteady. Sadly Aunt May was only successful for the first few times. Upon seeing that Elaine told her to move him to a wider space so that she can record it down, on the first try she failed to catch Keith and he fell for the first time.

Others

  • For some reason he likes us to let him stand unassisted and sing "Happy Birthday" for him while he claps his hand.
  • He likes to hold onto my ear lobes with his left hand and sometimes poke the end with his right index finger. (my sis have had the same habit when she was small and then it was Grandma's ear she held onto)
  • For now I am on top of his preference list of person to carry him, then comes Mummy, PoPo, Jiu-Jiu (Uncle Jason). He also tends to prefer someone who stands up than someone whom is sitting down.
  • He likes to point at things with his index fingers.
  • He is also able to respond very well to "tim choong-choong" and "clap-clap hand"
  • I do realise that he is extremely ticklish.
